Spacebar

The spacebar is a great key to use in keyboard shortcuts. It's instantly accessible without moving our fingers.

So pick your most commonly used shortcuts, and use the spacebar for them.

For us, "Hide Other Programs" is the single most common system-wide shortcut that we use.

So we set it to cmd-space. Screen getting cluttered? Cmd-space and it's clean.

The next most common shortcut is activating the Dock (see our program launcher tip). So we set cmd-shift-space to activate the Dock.

You might have other shortcuts that you use more frequently -- use the spacebar to make them more accessible.
